Bono of the rock group U2, noted singer and philanthropist, also has an investment group that he is on the board of directors and apparently is active in the managing of.
The name of it is Elevation Partners, after one of U2's classic songs — the company was in the news in recent years after some technology bets went awry (Palm is one that comes to mind, but Hewlett took that dog off their hands).
However, it looks like they're cashing in big-time with an estimated 1.5% stake in Facebook. It has quadrupled in value to $750 million (of a total of $1.9 billion capital that Elevation controls).
I guess it's always a "Beautiful Day" when you're a world-famous and well-respected rock star AND your investments pay off big-time.
